Tri-tip steak is a triangular cut of beef that comes from the bottom sirloin. It’s also known as Santa Maria steak and is a boneless cut of beef. Tri-tip is known for being flavorful and tender, with a lean cut and subtle smokiness. It has dense marbling – the white flecks of fat – that melt into the steak as it cooks.  Tri-tip can be a healthy choice because it’s high in protein and nutrients, and relatively low in saturated fat.
